Apple to Create iPod Game System?
Is Apple considering joining the likes of Nintendo, Sony, and Nokia by creating a dedicated gaming handheld? Well, not exactly. But they are finally taking a closer look at games overall. Spymac effectively aligned some recent facts and rumors that have come to light to conclude that Apple might have something happening in their secret chambers.
Fact 1: A study reports that men buy more games than they do music. No kidding?!
Rumor 1: Apple is in talks with ATI about a game developing unit. Ok, too many loops there, but I’ll bite.
Rumor 2: Apple, Nvidia, and ATI are all actively recruiting engineers to improve OpenGL performance on Macs.
So does this spell out an iPod gaming future? No. Not at all. What it does say is that Apple is considering attempts at capturing a piece of the gaming market. We’re not sure how they’ll get into gaming, but if it were up to us, an Apple handheld would be an easy buy.

no way in hell should apple make a gaming console. i will be really pissed… i dont even like how there are like 100 gameing systems out right now, the psp just came out, wait like 4 months and than you’ll see a new portable gameing console will be out!!! not cool at all
A gaming system from apple? I wouldn’t get it. For one like all apple products I’m sure it would be too expensive hence software development would be poor. Not many people would be buying an overpriced handheld system. Now if it was affordable maybe. Even then I think sony would come out on top with their software.
yeah, apple can stay the crap out of the playing field. last thing i want is to buy some more accessories for a portable. OOOOooh the apple buffer shining kit 90$ or replacement headphone ear attatchment for 67$
i say that because i tried buying a birthday gift for my friends ipod and the cheapest carrying case i could find was $49.99 and it was like a little pink hello kitty case so i give that a big thumbs down
I LOVE Apple to death, but I hope to high heaven that they dont make a Portable system. Id rather see them make a PDA and a Portable Video Player. It just wont be very good and will ruin Apples bad… butt reputation.

You guys are so predigest, whatever apple douse they will do it right and they will take their time. Take the iPod for instance, its the whole lifeblood of the Mp3 market. Its the top seller, and its the one that the rest are copying and trying to attain. So weather you like them or not your benefitting from their existence if you own any Mp3 player.

Apple has both the technology and the engineers needed to develop a high-end game console. Some of you brought up past failures by Apple, there is no way to get around a failure unless you try again. At this point in time, Apple has ATI, Nvidia, and Intel working with them. If you don’t think that these companys could make something that could drastically change the way people look at Apple, you need to think again.
And for the over-priced iPod accessories, I don’t know if you checked, but none of those cases are made by Apple, so to blame Apple for expensive accessories is not fair. And the things that Apple does make by themselve arevery well put together and are high-quality pieces of equipment.
