Forced Firmware Updates
Some games are now going to be forcing firmware updates to version 1.50 (So you can still use homebrew if you want). Which ones? Dead to Rights: Reckoning, DUB Racing, and Coded Arms have all been said to not play without 1.5 firmware (There is a download on the UMD to update the firmware if you want to). I have 1.5 firmware already, but still would you update your firmware to play an awesome game (GTA maybe?) but lose the ability to play homebrews on your PSP? Hopefully Sony will make a firmware update worth it with things like Internet browser and e-mail, but we shall see.

Personally, I wouldn’t update. No matter what. I paid for my PSP. I also paid for my SNES games. I feel I can do with my PSP how I damn well please.
If they’re going to force updates, it’s their loss. I will simply stop buying PSP games.
It’s not like they have no competition. They can shoot themselves in the foot if they want to.
actually this just in sony has announced the 2.00 version firmware where there is internet browser with out the wipeout pure hack u just click the globe icon next to the movie icon and there is also picture swapping to other players also but 2.00 will be out in japan this september but no release date has been announced for America

I have a psp1000, it now does not even boot up. I think the firmware has been altered. does anyone know how to reset back to factory settings. I have heard about a psp120 has anyone else?

Purchases psp from Hong Kong but does not have English as a choice of languauges.

this psp business is awesome…It is great…i got the 2.0 firmware and it runs great. I mostly use it for internet, and people no homebrew or whatever they are work on 2.0 so I was pissed when i found out..the psp is great so stop acting like little kids and whinning and go out now\and buy your psp before it is too late or old school. because soon, i bet that they will have a new system out…so dammit people go buy it now
yo that psp thing is really cool man ..n i got 2.0 firmware its really runs very good and lts of my friends really liked that my brother send it to me from usa and um so very happy thanx for making that psp hope ya’ll make anotha one really koool
i have a psp 1.5 version.and tried to setup the network.and when i went to the network,it said that i have a later version and asking me to download an update.so i downloaded it.and when it finished it ask me to install it with an update of version 2.8.i didnt continue coz my 1.5 version might lost.will it take effect if i install it.will my version change?please email me.thaks.
I have a psp1000 - it was playing all games and videos fine until a game freeze which forced a reset to original factory settings. Now it won’t recognise any umds. IS THIS FIRMWARE OR IS THE UMD DRIVE SHOT?

I have Dead to Rights, and it does have the firmware update on the UMD. However, I have been playing the game without problems, and have NOT updated.
