Game Boy Micro on September 13th in Japan.

The Infamous Broken PSP Screen Faceplate

Rejoice fans of tiny things, the Game Boy Micro is set to launch in Japan on September 13th. According to Nintendo of Japan, the Game Boy Micro will launch on September 13th alongside software like Mario Tennis Advance, a double cartridge containing Dr. Mario & Panel De Pon, and the 20th Anniversary Edition of Super Mario Bros. No word on bundles, or the Play Yan release yet though. About a dozen different faceplates will be available from the launch of the unit, including white.

I hope for a Q4 release in the US. Don’t think I’ll be importing this one.

wow…another freakin game boy just as i predicted. they didnt even wait a dam year! im posting this from my psp too. Can you do that on the DS? Nintendo’s killing innocent wallets all over the world again!

Oh so Nintendo is killing wallets and yet you paid $250 for your PSP? Right…

Bah, Gizmondo beats you both. $400 and my wallet loses weight and is happy to be in a maintenance diet.

While i will say that psp is worth the money, if you dont have that money then dont buy it or go with the DS. but when i say that its killing your wallet i mean that Nintendo keeps making you upgrade your dam game boy or whatever instead of making an upgradable console. My guess is that you end up spending 200$ on your DS then buy games and before you know it…YAY game boy micro is out and your DS will never see internet and graphics support and you end up spending more money then you would have by buying the psp in the first place (that is if you wanted the features of a psp from nintendo)

sorry for sounding like such a fanboy but thats how i’m feeling

Actually, the Nintendo DS has a variety of option paks that are coming out over the span of the next three quarters. First ones out are game upgrades (Band Brothers) and force feedback (Metroid Pinball).

The next sets are a VOIP, Game Cube Link Up, Memory Expansion, and an interesting looking 5GB Micro Drive. (I’m interested in what they will use it for.)

The DS is aimed at productivity and other audiences in the future, so -yes- internet browsing will be possible. Actually, if you own a PassMe device, once the new firmware launches with Mario Kart: You’ll be online, reading this site, before the end of the year. The Nintendo DS is $150, not $200. Unless you’re talking about the European price. (Which is about $199 for the DS and $349 for the PSP.)

The Game Boy Micro is a third and final rendition of the GBA line. The next Game Boy will be part of a seperate line. It’s logical. The original GB had three renditions: Original Brick, Pocket, and Lite.

The GBC is the only version of the Game Boy to be given only one rendition. We never got the GBC Slim models, due to pressure to release the GBA. The Game Boy Micro is also a completely different product line than the Nintendo DS. The release of the Game Boy Micro is meant to solidify the difference between the DS and GB families of product, as well as give people who do not care for the touch interface a better screen in which to play GBA games. It’s also meant to be a companion in the pocket with the DS, because the idea is to ween people off the idea of using their DS to play GBA games. Why? Because the second slot on the DS is meant for Option Paks. The GBA compatability is just an added value.

Is the PSP worth $250? Eh. I can do almost all the added value uses for it on my GBA already. So, with me, the PSP is not worth that price to me. I think it will take quite a few more actually good games to change that opinion.

But you have the $25 game boy movie player and 2 4GB memory cards.

God I wish people would quit calling the DS a gameboy.

wouldn’t all of the add-ons and extras such as the movie player, mem cards, micro drives etc place the cost of the DS around the same price as the psp? the psp simply doesn’t need option packs… it just HAS options and now we have the promised firmware update with a free internet browser (very fast) If you can do everything the psp can do on a gba or ds for less than the price of a psp then i tip my cap to you

I like the touch screen a lot. PDA option pack?

Come on Nintendo.

I can do all the things people do on their PSPs for less price on a GBA SP or a DS already. Just waiting for homebrewers to work on a Firefox port so I can surf the internet.

Also, playing movies, text files, pictures, and music on the DS is pretty cheap. And a 1GB Compact Flash or 1GB SD Card is about HALF THE PRICE of a 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo.

Using a third party accessory, I can use the DS as a screen for my Game Cube. Here’s an easy one! I can also use my GBA SP as an FM Radio, a remote to pilot radio controlled cars, and a digital camera. Hmm.. so far, the PSP can’t do any of those yet. I guess you’ll just have to wait for those to be released. Maybe they will come out when the Tilt Sensor for Mercury is released. HA HA HA!

seriously too much hastle. you obviously like nintendo and im sure that with the psp, you can do all of that stuff if you have the effort and hey, it’d be in a nicer package too!

Too much hassle?

*laughs*

If I want to play a video, I run it through the encoder, name it WHATEVER I WANT, then place it WHEREVER I WANT on a Compact Flash Card. Then, pop it into the cartridge, put the cartridge in my GBA/DS and turn it on.

I don’t have to rename it a specifc file or place it in a specific file like on the PSP. I also can have multiple folders inside of a folder to keep it all organized. Not at all complicated, in fact: It’s far easier than putting a movie on a PSP.

Sure, you have a less active, larger, blurry, fragile screen on the PSP; but I guess I’ll have to do with a slightly smaller screen that is more active, not blurry, nor fragile on the SP or DS. Ah, well.

baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa the gb micro rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAY PLAYSTATION FREAKS NITENDO DONT WORRY ABOUT CRAPY OLD MULTIMEDIA THEY WORRY ABOUT THE GAMES THATS SOMTHING THAT SONY DONT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT AND SOMTHING SONY CANT MAKE GOOD
