Logitech Announces PSP Accessories
As you may or may not have known already, Logitech has announced its own line of accessories catered towards the PSP. A press release by Logitech quite a few months ago stated that Logitech will create its own line of PSP accessories, and here they are. Currently, they have four accessories: A sturdy plastic carrying case, pictured above, for $19.99, and lets you use every button on the PSP while in the case, as well as the headphone jack and possibly the memory stick slot. However, you’ll have to remove it to replace the battery, something you might do quite often since this is the first-gen PSP. You can also rotate the lid back 270 degrees to stand the PSP up as you watch a movie. The second accessory, not yet priced, is basically the same thing as the iPod speakers by Altec Lansing. It stands up the PSP and has two mini-drivers on both sides letting you enjoy your music loud and clear (at least, better than the built-in ones). The third accessory is like Sony’s EX-51 or Apple’s In-Ear headphones. They are in-ear earbuds that come with 3 sets of silcone sleeves to fit the inside of your ear. Expect great bass and some sound isolation, priced at $19.99. Last but not least, there is a headphone splitter, branded by Logitech. I don’t know why you need one designed for the PSP, just pick up any one for half the price at Radioshack. That basically doubles your headphone jacks on any portable audio device that uses a 3.5 mm stereo miniplug connector.
What I’d like to see from ANY third-party accessory maker is a triple-capacity battery for under $60…

Although the PSP is pretty large enough on its own, The case does not add much more bulk to the system. I hope the curves that are on the back of the PSP (see some pictures on lik-sang.com) that let you wrap your fingers more ergonomically around it are moulded on the carrying case too.

Yup, sony said a long time ago that they were going to make a higher capacity battery. So there :-). When I get a psp, a case is the first thing on my list, partially to eliminate the “phantom fingerprints” between uses.
has anyone noticed they are only selling the PSP in bundles and they are running around $370 at the cheapest? They even have a bundle for over $500. This is definitely different from the $250 everyone was expecting it to sell for.
Depends on where you live/shop…I walked into my local Toys r Us and picked up a plain value pack for $249.00.
I wonder if this will be able to be used in conjuction with the logitech keyboard due to be released some time in may. I hope that I will be able to use both at the same time!
in response to Josh, the bundled packages are mostly being sold through websites. EBGames as well as BestBuy and CompUSA, are selling the PSP on their website and in their store location. The websites are generally only offering packages, this way the consumer doesn’t buy the games from somewhere else at a cheaper price. But at each of those store locations they are selling only the value package, no bundles.
pez, thanks for the response! I hadn’t been in the stores yet to see them so I wasn’t sure and when I looked it up at best buy and toys r us I saw the prices and flipped out.
does everyone that has a PSP think it’s worth it? I’m probably not going to get one any time soon because I live on my own and support myself with my own money and therefore don’t have $250 to drop on a unit. But maybe I’ll wait until they have a price drop or something. I know some people were too happy about the games that are out so far. any comments from people who have the system and some games? I’m sure you’re all busy playing them, but when you have to recharge the battery, drop us a line.
the games are not that bad, they have ok graphics, and they are not that expensive because me and my brother already have one but if you don’t have the money…JUST STEAL IT!that is what I did and now I am selling them for about $179.00 because I was unloading them from the delivery truck into the store so I thought I might help my self to a box of about 10.HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!
to answer ur last question on this article… pelican made an external battery that holds an extra 2 charges… thats a total of 3 charges.. i got it and so far i havent had to use it.. i think the battery life is pretty good for my uses
I own a PSP and I got Untold Legends, NFS Rivals, and Metal Gear Acid. The only thing I can say is that you HAVE to own a PSP. The screen is simply amazing! Seriously. The graphics are PS2 quality, I got spider man 2 which is dvd quality (i think the umd movies nees to be priced at $10 though) and the battery life has yet to be a problem for me. There are lots of ways to conserve battery life (3 backlight settings, W-lan switch). I can’t wait to see what other developments are in store for the PSP (keyboards, email programs, word processors, camera addons) Everytime I see the DS i laugh. It’s seriously THAT good, buy one at some point… i couln’t be happier.
