More TV on your portable gaming system
Okay, I SWEAR this is my last post on getting TV on your portable gaming system! (For this week…muahhahaha) Anyway Sony recently announced that “it will soon be converting the uber-popular PlayStation Portable (PSP) into a location-free TV viewing device with DVR capabilities.” Cool huh?
“Soon [you will] be able to deploy the device’s built-in WiFi, to watch video from home entertainment terminals, anytime, anywhere in the world,” stated Sony’s CEO Howard Stringer at Ceatec.
Stringer further went on to say in his keynote that consumers can expect to see a high capacity (aka multi-gigabyte) MemoryStick designed for PSP that will be able to synchronize with a DVR. Now that is an awesome idea. Really I don’t even watch that much TV. Just Chappelle Show (before Dave quit), 24 and CNN Headline News in the morning. Oh and anything on the National Geographic Channel. C’mon you know that channel is the shit!

So I guess the rumors and pictures in regards to the TV Tuner aren”t going to happen? To bad I really wanted the TV Tuner, I don”t want to have to pay to watch TV.

Wow…well I wouldn’t get too excited about this just yet. Looking into the actual details about how “location-free” TV works, it’s really nothing special.
From what I gathered, you’re basically buying a whole new load of hardware that digitizes your content, and then it can “broadcast” it to your PSP… That IS of course, assuming you’re in a hot zone with internet access.
