Nintendo Enters Film Industry?
Egads! Nintendo is looking to step into to the film industry. Hiroshi Yamauchi, the former prez, is going to propose an animated film project to the company’s board. Going with the companies 3D modeling experience, it’s assumed it would be a computer animated feature, much like Square Enix’s cult films. But, and a big but here, since the Anime industry is hot, and very real, right now, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the company take a traditional animation approach.
In my opinion, this is a logical progession for Nintendo. The marriage of games and films has been happening for a few years now (Games using same production sets, film sequences, as their box office counterparts, for example. Character voiceovers, sharing of 3D models, and same producers/directors, are other examples.). Nintendo already has mastered the art of storytelling and it would most likely be refreshing to give some of their top-talent producers a shot at the big screen.

Hi Jeff,
Metroid is being made into a movie! Expected 2006. And rumored to be directorized by John Woo. But if that is true, he’ll have six movies come out in 2006 which is a little faster release schedule than his typical 1 movie every 18 months. Check IMDB for more info on the Metroid Movie.

I think that this would be a great move for nintendo. I personally would like to see “Metroid” put into a movie as the games kick butt. Playing Echoes right now and loving it. Would be great for new age special effects
