I own a DS and am GLAD. The DS is a much better deal first off, simply because of it’s price, and although the PSP has other features, they cost too much. To get a card to hold music on, you might as well have boughten a seperate MP3 player. The DS has much better design, much better games, and the features (microphone support, dual screens, touch screen, ect), make the system much more worth it, even if the DS cost twice the price of the PSP, it’d be worth it, but it dosn’t stop there, that’s not even considering the GAMES! DS has the best games, hands-down. Period. Oh, and did I forget to mention free online play?
The PSP is for me and everyone else, I mean come on, the DS doesn’t update like the PSP does… The PSP updates are FREE, we have 2.6 right now, but just think, I could sit and day dream all day about what the next PSP version will be, just imagine what it’s going to be in 20010(probably quit updating, lol) !!! I mean yeah, sure the DS looks cool and protected, but the PSP is slick and like a playstation controller. We will have free online play pretty soon, but it takes time, come on, give Sony a break, DS just made it and quit, but PSP on the other hand keeps updating… I use the Browser to check email and stuff like that. Sony even said we will get mapping software and a integrated email service… Now come on, DS isn’t ever going to do that now are they? I love the PSP.
On a scale of 1-10, PSP gets a 9(you cant be perfect) and DS gets a 7… I admit, DS is pretty nice for playing games, but the PSP isnt just a gaming console, it is a portable handheld entertainment center.
Look at my PSP site… http://www.digitallies.com
Does Sony plan on releasing anything for the PSP besides updates to screw over the homebrew community, currently the only legitimate reason to *buy* the device?
I’ll buy a PSP when it’s cheaper and there’s something worth buying it for.
OKAY!SERIOUSLY WOULD U RATHER PAY $250 FOR A NICE SLICK & WELL DESIGHNED PSP THAT CAN DO TONS OF THINGS(INTERNET,GAMES,MP3 PLAYER,VIDEOS,MOVIES,ETC.)OR A CRAPPY DS THAT PLAYS SUCKY NENTINDO GAMES FOR 8 YEAR-OLDS.PEOPLE LIKE KIBIRU[VISITOR] HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE’S TALKING ABOUT!FOR ALL WE KNOW HE PROBABLY IS A 8 YEAR-OLD!BUT SERIOUSLY,THE PSP & DS IS NO COMPARISON!PSP KICKS THE DS’s %#$@*#!!
Okay, the PSP is the one for me. To say that you would never consider buying one, to me, is very stupid.
1) Design is better because it is smaller compared to DS, it catches the eye because its so sleek and futuristic, the landscape is well thought out and it fits your hands almost like a glove. The DS is more bulky in dimension which is wierd because the PSP does so much more and yet it is smaller?
2) It’s very trivial to say that the games are better for PSP than DS. I would love to play Mario Kart DS and…well thats all i would LOVE to play but the psp has Wipeout, Burnout, Pursuit Force and Gran Turismo sooner or later. With the DS, i literally feel like i’m poking around YTV with its cartoon-like graphics and games that seem to be ignoring my age group (18) But i like those kinds of games and so do many others but i’ve grown up a little and i’d rather have the awesome 3D graphics and more intense gameplay like that of Grand theft auto: LCS, Syphon Filter, Metal Gear acid 1+2, sports games like tennis and golf and racing, football.
3) For 100 bucks more, an MP3 player, Internet Browser, Video player(i record TV shows and watch them on the psp when im on the go)
and tons of other accesories i cant wait to get like the camera or keyboard. I just ordered a brand new Memory Stick pro duo 2GB off of Ebay for $97 (Canadian) which will hold anything i throw at i. So if i’m going to carry around a game machine to play portable games, i find it so much more worth it when your on the bus or the train or walking home because you say to yourself: “Holy crap! i can listen to my music when im bored of a game or watch a movie or a tv show or browse through pic’s or go on the internet”. I’m very impressed at how practical it is just for 100 bucks more (now why would you buy a separate mp3 player when that good of a deal is just a few steps down the row at Best Buy, they even sell the with 1GB memory sticks now!)
4) I think sony won the race even though they started 4 or 5 months after the DS. I suggest getting both but we’re not made of money so i think the PSP is more worth the trouble.
I like the DS better because of its touch screen, microphone and two screens. It has great games, even though the PSP has more features like video and mP3.
I’d just like to tell “John Doe” that I’m 17, and if he ever wishes to be taken seriously, he might want to consider punctuation or spaces, or at least turning off caps lock and not use “%#$@*#!!” as a word. Also, a lot of mature adults like the DS just as much. The only difference is that the DS is a gaming handheld and the PSP is really just good for media (I.E. Movies, Music, ect.) If it did these things well, I’d probably own one, but for the price of the PSP plus a memory stick, I could have bought a better MP3 player several times over, and although the way they are releasing movies in UMD form is fairly cool, these are coming out less and less, as hollywood is claiming that it is just not worth producing them considering the sales. I will also admit that the DS design could be better (The DS lite will actually fix that problem alltogether), but I dislike the PSP design more. The clamshell design on the DS keeps scratches from being a problem as they are on the PSP. I also just don’t like the button design on the PSP, from the “thin” feeling normal buttons, to the joystick.
Just to let every one know, I am not “John Doe”. “John Doe put his site link as digitallies.com, this does not belong to ihm, digitallies.com is mine, not John Doe’s. John Doe does not have a right to say that his site URL is digitallies.com.And yes, John Doe does need to grow up, ALOT.
I agree with that. But the PSP is very much a gaming handheld, all the other media is just extra’s. I think that the people who use the media capabilities on the PSP are people who would appreciate the games that come for it; sort of like it’s targeted to an older age group. But hey, if someone’s not going to use the features because they’re SO hard to function (not true) then i wouldn’t suggest buying one either.
I think anyone who dislikes the design of the psp is extremely picky. Even a few scratches on the screen are preventable because it comes with a case, a small price to pay for a big beautiful screen.

I have a PSP that I now barely use. The PSP is like a utility knife, jack of all trades, master of none.
1) Limited to a total of 4gb of space, currently only available through a battery pack at about $150 or so if I remember correctly. A 2gb memory stick runs around $100 or so.
2) The web browser is terrible. I don’t have the new version, I have the one before, but you still were typing text as you would on a cell phone, which is annoying and pointless. Hopefully this will change with an update. And you really have to go to sites designed for the psp screen.
3) UMD and DVD. No way I’ll purchase the same movie twice. Perhaps if the UMD was $5 or so, I would think about it. But at their current prices, it is not a surprise that the sales are slow. Further, even with a tv adapter is the quality going to be the same as a DVD?
4) The games are ok. There are not enough original games for PSP, too many remakes from the console. Further there are many that have significant loading times which really hurts the gameplay.
5) Ok the screen is beautiful. Really quite impressive and as far as I’m concerned the best part of the device.
6) Cost. After adding everything up for a multi-media device it is expensive. $250 for the psp, $100 for a decent amount of storage (mp3 lsitening, movie ripping). $15+ a pop for umd movies. If you add it all up, you can do this: Get an Ipod with 30gb of storage $300 (does music and movies better than the psp) and then get either a ds or psp for games. It is not cost effective to use the PSP as a multi-media device, since you can rip you dvds to the ipod and its size (physical and storage) is much better for listening to music than the psp. So the fact that the PSP is a multi-media device is moot since it does it worse and for more money than specialized products.
7) GPS? Why? I really need another device that can locate where I am? Plus what are the other components that are going to be required and how much will they be?
Personally I’m leaning to the DS because of its different gameplay abilities. I got my fiance one and was really impressed. From a flat out gaming stand point and price, the ds is a good choice. If you like the games on the PSP better, than that is the better choice, but I don’t think the extra features of the PSP make it better product or a must have because of poor implementation and restrictive cost of those features.
Guess it depends what you like. If you like games that are crappy ports of better console games, un-original games that lack any innovation, a promise of maybe 3 original titles year, and the ability to play movies that lack the special features their DVD counterparts have…well, then by all means, pick up a PSP.
If you prefer unique titles that cost less, are more innovative, has more variety of gaming types..well, get a DS.
PSP IS WAY! BETTER THAN DS I HAD A DS WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT AND SOLD IT INSTANTLEY WHEN PSP CAME OUT THERES NO COMPARISON PSP IS ALOT BETTER DS IS FOR LITTLE KIDS PSP IS FOR OLDER PEOPLE DS HAS OK GAMES BUT MOST OF THEM SUC THE GRAPHICS ARE CARTOONY I MEAN COME ON COMPARED TO PSP GRAPHICS HAHAHAHA THERES NO WAY DS IS BETTER AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE HARDWARE OF PSP AND WHAT YOU CAN DO AND THE UPDATES!! PSP RULES!!

I think it’s pretty obvious that when the arguments for the DS are actually intelligently written and the ones for the PSP are in all caps and have no punctuation, it’s clear that the PSP is aimed at the adolecant boy age when they think that because somthing is not inappropriate it’s aimed at children. What it boils down to is that the DS is better for gaming, and the PSP is more of a media thing. I personally think all the media applications on the PSP are done better for less (Well, this is more of a proven fact than a personal opinion), and the DS is one-of-a-kind.
Oh, and just to shed truth on a few comments I’ve heard:
1: “The DS is a piece of cheap, plastic crap” (Obviously originally written in all caps): In case you didn’t notice, both the PSP and the DS are made of plastic, and the DS is more durable as well. Just because a product is not unreasonably overpriced does not mean it is cheap.
2: “The graphics on the DS suck and the graphics on the PSP ownzor” (obviously also in all caps and riddled with spelling mistakes):
The DS is just as capable of good graphics as the PSP is. In fact, many of the games on the PSP look very grainy and pixelated, while the DS games tend to look much more smoothed out. Don’t insist that because one handheld uses a different style of visual effects than the other that it is graphically inferior. The people writing things like this are just proving their stupidity by writing completely unbased statements such as this.
you must feel so silly the psp is a better piece of hardware im not gonna lie but both machines are both unique in there own way psp is sony ds is nintendo not the same company not the same thing get. both none is better than each other they both well satisfie you im sure of it .you want better graphics with the same experience youve been experiencing for the last 20 years and not to mention the experience that nintendo brought to the world go play your psp now if you want something new exiting inovative free online gaming the best games And you know that theres only one thing mann dsssssssdssssssss dssssssss dsssssss NINTENDO DS HAIL NINTENDO AND SONY TOO AND FORGET ALL YOU SILLY PEOPLE YOU ALL SOUND LIKE CHILDREN COME ON YOUR GOING ON LIKE YOU MADE THE PSP DONT TAKE IT TO HEART THAT THE DS IS CURRENTLY BEATING THE PSP ALL OVER THE GLOBE GO GET A DS YOU ARE LYING TO YOURSELF DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR MISSING AND DONT EVEN REPLY CUS YOU KNOW IM TELLING THE TRUTH
PSP
Better graphics. Period.
Better games.
No adapter needed for web.
As far as DS beating psp…uh, have you checked the npd numbers lately?
If I want to rub something to have fun, who needs nintendo? I want to play videogames and I play them on my PSP.
Here’s a reply: you sound like an idiot, i can’t understand you so grow your writing skills grown up. I don’t like unintelligent comments like that AKA guy, but what’s worse is things like Ryan’s post dissing the psp features like that. Usually i would have no problem with that but WOW would i like to hear Ryan back that crap up.
…hold on BRB
I don’t care about this difference in sales; usually something that costs more is going to sell less than something $100 cheaper, plus DS came out much earlier.
And yes Joe, your right that the PSP has better graphics…i’m sorry but it’s been proven to have more capability in 3D graphics processing to give it graphics closer to those of the PS2 than the DS to the Gamecube. I dont have the sheer hardware specs on me, but i’ll find them again if anyone wants me to.
My opinion is that the DS is not nearly as ‘unique’ as the psp. It’s just a GBA SP with a touch screen, and slightly better graphics so that nintendo can make more money on the next handheld they make by putting technology that already exists into a brand new handheld insted of putting it into the DS. With the PSP, you get every bit of technology that exists now in one system that wont be replaced in 2 years and has the potential to keep upgrading into something better…anyway, i dont want to argue why i bought the psp.
What Jim said is kinda wierd. If you barely use your PSP why did you buy it? and why are you saying it’s features dont function well enough if you too lazy to use the thing?
1)Nobody needs 4GB of space on a psp, 2GB will hold anything you want to load onto it. If your one of those people who has thousands of songs and doesn’t like portable gaming, then have fun buying an ipod for 300 dollars, or if you like video’s, maybe an ipod video for 400 dollars at least.
2) The web browser is great, but you have to go through the tiny process of updating (only once for 2.0) and the web browser becomes just like a web browser on your PC (just a little slower) and it works on EVERY web site.
3) Original Games? Oh you mean games that have been remade over and over again and transfered directly from the N64 cartridge into a DS game? well i don’t know what you mean by that. But i don’t see how originality has anything to do with how fun the game is. GTA and Metal Gear and Gran Turismo and Syphon Filter etc. are all being remade into the psp with different gameplay and the psp hardware gives them the capability to do that(check them out at gamespot.com).
4) Honestly, how long do you think the load times are? a minute? 30 seconds? try around 15-20 seconds (I tested them with GTA: Liberty city stories, Virtual Tennis, Untold Legends, and Metal Gear Ac!d) so quit being so dam picky
6) I don’t believe for a second that the Ipod does movies better than the psp or cost’s $300. Like i said, you can’t play any good games with Ipod, you have to buy your video and watch it on a 3-4 inch wide screen, no internet and no wireless gameplay starting at $400 (according to bestbuy) So the psp will do everything except hold your gigantic music library which you don’t need in the first place (just put 50 songs on a mem stick for the day *takes one minute) and your good.
So lets see PSP+Mem Stick+1game equals $400 (i would suggest 2GB stick off of Ebay)
7)GPS?…F*** GPS it can’t do everything
…So, it looks like the PSP actually functions for multi-media and gaming BETTER and CHEAPER or EQUAL cost than just owning an ipod video or DS. So if your too lazy to use the features correctly or add up the price correctly or look at the PSP and DS games list, then go out and buy a DS because you like it’s simplicity, not because the psp’s features are too complicated for your lifestyle or your too lazy to use them right, the PSP is very capable and the person using it has to be capable to.
um id have to say neither
PSP:
Pros- awesome graphics, lots of extra things to do on it (music, videos, etc.), nice big screen, pretty good games (though not great) but solid ones, very nice to look at, easy to hack
Cons-pretty expensive, no “must-have” game, easy to scuff up without buying more stuff, need to buy even more stuff to hold videos and files, sony keeps screwing with the firmware to stop all the hacks
DS:
Pros-touch screen is fun (for games that dont ignore it), dual screen games have a lot of possibility and promise, much cheaper, no extra stuff to carry around, good battery life, solid games
Cons-behind the times graphics, microscopic screen, no games use full touch functionality, very little homebrew, not much wifi (being solved hopefully), cant shake “kiddie feel”
If both systems were ideal, I’d say DS. The only reason PSP is better now is because Nintendo is too stupid to realize what DS could be. Imagine a huge top screen with awesome graphics and a multimedia player with all the controls out of the way on the touch screen down below. Internet browsing, PDA-ing with the touch screen, the possibilities are endless, literally. That would be genius.
Apparently, Nintendo just wants to keep themselves out of the race by putting out a low grade product in comparison to the slick, mass-consumer PSP.
Also, neither system has a Killer-App. DS’s killer app Metroid Prime Hunters isn’t even out yet, and PSP doesnt even have one (GTA is great, but its not a truly unique experience by any means).
Each is flawed and shortsighted. Im just waiting and praying for DS2 and PSP2 to see if both can improve their needy handhelds, especially Nintendo.
For right now PSP is a lesser-of-two-evils kind of way. Potentially I see DS as a much better all around idea than the PSP if Nintendo can pull their heads out of their butts and get something going, but Sony just has too many connections. It seems like a doomed race for handheld sumpremacy to me for either of them.
Title: PSP vs DS
1) PSP has way more graphics than the DS. DS is basically a portable remake of the Nintendo 64, with a touch screen.
2) I agree that the PSP has a couple of remade games, but the DS also suffers from the same cause; which they both have to improve.
3) The PSP looks sexier than the DS. In the other hand, the new DS Lite, looks slimmer n sexy as well; much more portable than the PSP.
4) PSP is VERY expensive. The DS expensive, yet affordable.
5) PSP has more media (mp3, UMD movies, wireless use of the internet, etc.) The DS has WI-FI chat and great online play!
Personally I enjoy both handhelds. The DS brings a new style of gameplay, which is fun and very entertaining; not only for gamers, but older non-gamers,like my parents. The PSP is extremely expensive, not only to buy, but to maintain; yet extremely addicting!! I own a PSP and my wife owns the DS, we both share, which is great. They are both worth the while! I agree they have their downfalls, but what doesnt?! They are both different and that’s what makes them BOTH perfect…
It’s probably way too late in the day to hope anyone will read this far down, but what the hell, here we go anyway.
Both the PSP and DS are fantastic machines and I’ve owned both since launch. I’m an adult in my late 20’s with the disposable income to be able to thrown a fair bit of cash at these things. It’s the DS that I use more though.
I bought the PSP as a games machine. I don’t want or need a unified device, I have my iPod for music and my PDA for email and browsing on the move. I would argue that these specialised devices out-perform the PSP in their fields.
I don’t currently own a dedicated film player, but I can’t say I’ve had much of a need for one so far. The UMDs I’ve bought so far have been great for killing a couple of hours, but there are very few films I’ll watch over and over again. This makes it pretty hard to justify the £20 (roundabout $35) that UMDs cost here. Yes, I could rip DVDs, but frankly it’s just a bit too much like hard work. I always carry a bag, so maybe I’ll just grab a cheap personal DVD player (or more realistically I’ll use my laptop).
The PSP can produce stunning looking games, but there’s yet to be a title that really grabs me and makes me want to play for hours on end (or even a quick blast when I’m sat on the train). Sony and its assorted developers need to get their heads down and work on a a few outstanding titles. I don’t want turn-based, card games (Metal Gear, I’m looking at you), I want fast, furious, colourful action.
The DS is a very different beast. It’s not an all-conquering convergent device, it’s a games machine. I’m happy to call it a toy - that’s not an insult, it’s a fantastic thing to play with. It’s sturdy so I can happily throw it in my bag. The battery life is great and games are cheap(er) and plentiful (especially considering the GBA back-catalogue).
I’m not blinkered enough to suggest for a moment that the DS doesn’t have its faults, but it has ended-up being the machine that I use most for games. I live and work in London and I’m forever grabbing the tube (that’s our underground rail network) and buses around town. The DS is handy for these short trips for its rapid start-up and load times. The PSP’s load times aren’t awful, but playing Untold Legends really can start to feel like hard work (those are terrible load times and really could have been improved before release).
I guess in conclusion I’m saying that it’s unfair to compare the two machines as they have different aims. The DS is purely a games machine at heart, while the PSP is a convergent device. The DS excels at games and the PSP handles all jobs well.
Actually, in Japan, they are selling more DS’s than any console on the market. Just finding one in stores is still nearly impossible there. The PSP on the other hand, #11 on the console charts. 11! The N-Gage is selling more units there than the DS. And don’t even start with this “well japan’s just stupid and likes nintendo better” shit. Sony and Nintendo are BOTH Japanese countries, and globally, the DS is outselling the PSP by a landslide. One of the few places the PSP is actually selling more units is America, home of the arrogant spoiled pre-teen.
Also, I want to get it across that I do not hate the PSP or anything like that. I just think that sony tried, but failed. The PSP is by NO means a good deal. No matter what anyone says, the PSP is capable of the SAME graphics as the DS. They are by NO MEANS better. Most of the people here are children with no knowledge of even what graphics ARE, and think because somthing looks slightly more realistic in many games, the system “clearly” has better graphics, which is just not true, as if you look at the actual hardware of both systems, they are BOTH just as capable of great looking games, although personally I feel both systems don’t use this capability nearly enough.
PSP…..for sure.
It is as simple as that.
I had the DS first and then i bought the PSP. DS took forever to produce any games that kicked butt. I found myself playing my older Advance games more then any games that were being sold for the newer DS system. Annoying!
Once I got the PSP, I was convinced that it was far more impressive and special then DS. However, even though I am somebody that CAN afford to buy the more expensive games (not by much) it still hurts to spend so much $$$$ on a silly game.
The most annoying thing about either is that neither are very Mac friendly…..of which i am a huge supporter. it seems as though apple is going to surpass both at somepoint. Hahaha! Still, I have become weary of buying Apple products too- not because they aren’t great -but because the next week they come out with something even better.
At least w/ PSP you can get updates and stuff.
I truly beleive that it is a personal preferrance and every body is differant. I travel 6 month out of the year and find myself w/ way to many toys to keep myself busy. Grammer lessons aside, in the grand sceme of life….who the “frick” cares? hahaha.
just have fun!
I’m not going to say Japan likes Nintendo better. Like i said…The PSP is more expensive than the DS, so it will sell more! Must i repeat that? Infact, the DS is so low in price that i am going to buy one, hell i’d pay $150 for a DS, but i would also pay $250 for a PSP, they’re both worth the price.
OMG the PSP has better graphics capability than the DS, HELLO! wanna hear the specs? fine:
PSP
Video memory: 2MB EDRAM
Fill Rate: 664 MegaPixels/s
Fill Rate Triangles: 33 Megatriangles/s
Resolution: 480×272
Processor Clock Max: 333MHz
Processor 2 Clock Max: 333MHz
Main Memory: 8MB EDRAM
DS
Video Memory: 656 KB
Fill Rate: 30 MegaPixels/s
Fill Rate Triangles: 120,000 Triangles/s
Resolution: 256×192
Processor Clock Max: 67MHz
Processor 2 Clock Max: 33MHz
Main Memory: 4MB
…So how could anyone say that the graphics are BY NO MEANS better? because from a hardware perspective, they are. Period. Im not saying that the games are better (that’s personal preference), but the capability is better, and it is used.
I have the DS and the PSP, I love them both, and they both have their ups and downs, I don’t regret buying either of them, they both rock!
psp is as crap as ps2 no hardwer but mp3 and video you could get a video player and mp3 for less .
wy not bye a ds for less and play it longer wats the point 3/4 hours wat if your in the middle of a game and your battery goes so wat it goes on standby ule forget wat to do by the time you charge it. ds roooooooooools
gameboy sp is better then psp
psp is shit battery life is to.
wats the point in spending £179 for pooo.
wen u can do a poo and its better then a psp
psp ohh psp wy r u so crap.
the psp shatters if u drop it.
it might look good brand new but wen it shatters you will say mum i want a ds
aurie, i laugh at you. you sound like a little girl and you’ve obviously never touched a psp. battery is fine by the way…i like to avoid a low battery by plugging it in. I also use a simple light clamping of fingers to hold my psp so i dont don’t drop it and look as dumb as aurie.
DS=N64
PSP=90% PS2
DS Madden= No thanks.
PSP Madden= Who wants to get that @ss beat.
Bottom line to me are the graphics. I once almost purchased a gameboy color because they had GTA on it. When I found that the music was not included I decide to keep my money. When I heard the psp would be released I was at Walmart at midnight the day it hit the floor. Why? PS(anything)= GTA. GTA=Portable mayhem on the go.
PSP- good system with boring, non-innovative shit games
DS - good system with new, innovative good games
hmm…i wondering where system should i buy???? DS of course! The people who like the psp are people satisfied with playing “normal” games. Fine. whatever, to all psp players: have fun playing the same shit games over and over again, while us DS players experience new (and yes pretty strange, lol) fun games!
come on, someone name me ONE psp game that will give me something that I haven’t experienced yet? anybody???? hmmm…i thought so.
haha! what a loser! i feel sorry for you and the rest of your kind that only cares about graphics. you know what’s gonna happen to those gamers? eventually they’ll end up broke buying high end systems and video cards to play games that are the SAME games that they played before but with better graphics. One day, I hope you and other gamers like you wake up and realize that graphics don’t make a game fun. I hope that one day you all evolve like we have and open your minds for the next adventure…so have fun with “graphics” while true gamers experience real innovative gaming…
ummm…no one ever said that, and i certainly don’t think that graphics make the game. Then again, poking the game with a stick can be fun but that alone doesn’t make it innovative. First of all; is it too much to ask for nintendo to apply this ‘innovation’ into their graphics? after all it does make the game more visually stimulating. Right now i’m looking at Age of Empires: The Age of Kings for the DS in EGM #201 Pg.94 and it has little better graphics than the SP is capable of.
Some innovative and fresh games for the PSP are Metal Gear Acid 1+2 with it’s card selection gameplay which sounds stupid i know, but it’s dam fun. There’s also Lumines musical and addictive puzzle solving, i’ve played Mercury which is extremely skill testing, Pursuit Force, Untold legends, Infected, and the list goes on so dam much and if people would just check it out at gamespot you wouldn’t have people complaining that psp apparently has non-innovative games which is untrue, and obviously comes from someone who’s never touched psp games.
I’m sorry if i appreciate the effort that goes into making completely new games based on sony liscensed games like GTA or Gran Turismo or Metal Gear or those made by SOE etc. Instead of buying DS games ported from N64 games or GBA or even SNES which makes Nintendo a tidy profit. Although some of them are quite fun, it’s obvious to see that more effort goes into making psp games and even the psp itself. Why? just compare the game qualities.
My god, this place is full of PSP fanboys. Did you guys forget that you’re on http://www.portagame.com, not http://www.portamediacentre.com?
Sure the PSP has a nice screen, nice graphics, media capability, web browser, RSS reader, and a bunch of other stuff… but it has no games I want to play. That’s kinda a problem.
Sure, if I got a PSP, I’d want Lumines, Ridge Racer, Wipeout, Burnout, and a few others, but the fact is that I can’t justify spending over $300 canadian for a few cool games. I don’t want to listen to music on a huge, delicate, low-storage, MP3 player. I have a gigabeat, it holds 10 gigs and sounds great. Watching movies? No thanks. Couldn’t care less. Browsing the web? Lame. I don’t want to browse with an analog stick, thank you very much.
You see, I get to play fun, original games on my DS. They may not be “mature”, but who cares? The DS has Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Castlevania, Meteos, Phoenix Wright, Advance Wars, Kirby, Mario and Luigi, Sonic, Trauma Center, Viewtiful Joe, Nintendogs, and more. Those are all awesome games. The new Mario game, Metroid, Brain Training, Final Fantasy, and others are coming, and again I probably missed some. I honestly can’t name 1 PSP game on the horizon I care about.
To those who say the DS’s graphics suck… they don’t. The games don’t really look too great until you play them on the system. Screenshots don’t do games like Mario Kart and American Sk8land justice. Obviously the PSP has way better graphics, but those who say the DS is just an upgraded GBA just look like morons.
The fact is that the PSP really has very little in the form of games, and the other features are quite frankly lacking as well. The DS has great games, online play, and big releases on the horizon.
And isn’t that what’s important in a GAME console?
i understand, but i love the games on psp and i love having everything in one system cuz with 2GB of memory, it works very well. I’m just gunna get both systems and have the best of both worlds
I have a PSP and its awsome and DS sucks. I mean for 100 extra dollars you get a better screen better graphics more power you can watch videos listen to music and surf the web. PSP RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jim that was really a stupid statement, i mean you dont go and buy a nds game for $5.00 either, nor any other game,i can understand video umd’s not being 40 or 50 bucks, they sould be more like 20.00 the price of a dvd, but come on noone sells anything anymore for 5.00……. ,i own both the nds and psp, personally i would not give up either one but in comparison psp is better
Just look at the games reviews, and you’ll see witch system is better. (ds has more 9,8, and 7s than the crapy psp).
My point is that in the end the most important part are the games. And remember graphics aren’t that important.
ok im a big fan of the Playstation and ninendo but seriesly the DS sucks. they madeit the size of 2 bricks and still have the screen tiny they could have made it psp size. the DS doesnt even have wireless internet play. the psp has the movies the music (i dont really need the music because i have a zen) and internet and the photos. Im pretty sure that the DS has 1 good game and thats mario kart. buuuut you can even get that on homebrew for psp. bottom line is the DS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The psp has so many better games and they are still coming there will be over 200 titles by the end of this year. and the movies are really good but i only have 1 because it came with mine. and i have a question, how do you put tv shows on the psp after you recored them?????? i would use that alot. i say again DS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the price of psp comes down this month to only $200 and there is a new one coming out before Christmas its going to be slimmer lighter and has a 4gb storage built in, pluuuuus i dont know if this is a rumore but it will have a built in camera.
i believe that the psp is slightly ahead of the ds. don’t get me wrong, i like them both, but the ds really doesn’t have any valiant points over the psp.
heres a scoring system i made:
Durability:
DS: 10 points, it only breaks if you do it on porpose.
PSP: 7 points: not as tough as the ds, but you still have to be a bumbling idiot to break it.
Graphics:
DS: 6, N64 quality graphics are embarrasing, but its plausable and not that signifigant anyways
PSP: 10, grinds the ds into a pulp in this catagory
Online:
DS: 5, can only be used for games, and at only 2 mbps
PSP: 10, can websurf, update, download, and play games, and a comparativly superior 11 mbps.
Games:
DS: 9, nothing really bad has come out yet, although many of the games could also have been made on the GBA with equal effect.
PSP: 8.5, although head on the psp games are usually not as good as ds, but their close, and with some games such as Field Commander coming out, its gonna get close. the PSP also has superior 3rd party support which translates into many more games.
3rd party support:
DS: 6, nintendo never really has had really good 3rd party support (compared to sony anyways), and probably never will
PSP: 10, just take a look at the ps2, there are hundreds more titles for the ps2 than the Gamecube.
Screen:
DS: 7, yeah two is nice, but they’re both small and low res. being able to pay attention to two screens at once is a rare novelty.
PSP: 9, big screen almost as large as the entire system. the only downside is that it attracts dirt, but the system comes with a cleaning cloth for that, and grease doesnt diminish the system anyways.
Speed:
DS: 10, loading times are fast, but with 2mbps of wireless the ds is more likely to suffer from lag.
PSP: 9, loading times are longer, but not by much (not nearly as much as what the nintendo fans probably think). the gameplay never slows down anyways, and i have yet to lag online.
Battery Life:
DS: 10, 8-10 hours of life is great, but kinda overkill
PSP: 8.5, 5-7 hours is plenty long enough (and thats how much time i get out of mine, the roumors that it only gets 3-4 hours is total crap).
Memory:
DS: 10, saving on your catridge eliminates the need for a memory stick
PSP: 10, the system comes with a memory stick, and you can save other data (such as music, pics, and video) on it, something the ds can’t do.
Size:
who really gives a damn? both fit in your pocket unless your 7 years old and your pants are that small.
its really a tie anyways
Price:
DS: 9, much more affordable than a psp, but the value is another story.
PSP: 6, the $250 initial release price was a slap in the face.
Value:
DS: 8.5, nice games, but $150 for a system that can ONLY play games is kinda chinsy compared to the PSP.
PSP: 10, all it needs now is a coffee machine.
Potential:
DS: 7.5, bleak, all you’re going to expect to get are sequels to games you already have, most of which are going to be nearly identical.
PSP: 8, also rather bleak, but the larger amounts of 3rd party support is a little more promosing.
Control:
DS: 10, touch screen is nice. nuff said.
PSP: 7, the analog nub could have been improved, and a second one would have been nice.
Appearance:
really not important, so its not gonna count.
the psp would win in this catagory though.
Features:
DS: 6, can play games and a picto chat with a default range of 30ft is a joke. even now that it goes online it still doesnt prevail.
PSP: 10, again, all it needs is a coffee machine
Future Features:
DS: 6, cartidge movies hold about 1/14th the data a UMD does, so the video can, literally, be no longer than about 1 and a half hours. it gets lower if you want extra
features.
PSP: 10, Sony is developing a type of “video phone”, basically its a camera that attaches to your psp so you can talk to someone else via internet. basically its a webcam thats portable. oh yeah, and PSP is also getting Eye Toy. dont believe me? go to
http://psp.ign.com/articles/696/696079p1.html
well all-in-all the DS got 120, while the PSP got 133.
its a close call, but its notably more accurate.
if there’s more catagories to be noted than say so.
i agree, looking at that article reminds me of one of the reasons why i bought a psp; it’s potential. seemless communication with PS3 and a video camera are just some of the improvements being made. maybe those things will come out on the new handheld: Nintendo DS Advance Micro SP in the distant future…in case you didn’t get that it means nintendo always makes new handheld instead of improving current ones.
The psp deserves a 10 in potential and the DS a 7
all the links posted in the past 3 messages have been ads or something of the like.

…so you were saying what now?
oh, and the DS DOES have wireless internet play…two types:
wifi, and local, where if you’re playing local, you only need to have ONE game card present, unlike the psp, where every player needs to have their own copy of the game…
lets take another subject into accound about the psp vs ds battle.
how about crossover games, ya know, the ones for both systems.
in general, the games that are released for both, the PSP gets a higher score than DS. take Worms for an example, it got %60 on the DS and %70 on the PSP (based on both gamespy and IGN). while neither score is really great, it exposes another huge weakness of the DS. you know when i said the PSP was stronger? well now it also applies to AI abilities. the AI for both could use work, but the more powerful PSP allows the comp to think better, while the DS AI makes dumb-ass mistakes much more frequently. also, the touchpad wasnt enough to save the DS from its GBA like graphics and poor strength. i guess the stylus isnt that “revolutionary”, is it?
Ok guys I have news for you all. The PSP is a gift from the gods!(From South Park)
—Anyway, I guess the last man has the last words. It all comes down to this…I’ve read all of the comments and calculated the advantages and disadvantages of PSP and DS.
*******The PSP and DS have the same number of advantages and disadvantages.*******
-BUT…THE ADVANTAGES OF THE PSP ARE A HELL OF AN AMOUNT MORE STRONGER THAN THAT OF THE DS’s-
It all comes down to the verdict(from G4TechTV and My opinion and your comments)
——–**!PSP WINS!**——–
THANK GOD I BOUGHT A PSP!
the ds is simply the best becouse of its gerate games online gameplay andrevolutionary controls psp may look nice but hase the crapyest games ex for one psp garfix r beter but you know what they say the grafix dont make the game ds hase metroid prime hunters a gorgeus game good grafix gameplay and and online the best ds out sells psp 3 to 1 in the world lats face it ds is is the best handheld its afordable and u dont have to pay 50$ for crapy games DS #1.
“the ds is simply the best becouse of its gerate games online gameplay andrevolutionary controls psp may look nice but hase the crapyest games ex for one psp garfix r beter but you know what they say the grafix dont make the game ds hase metroid prime hunters a gorgeus game good grafix gameplay and and online the best ds out sells psp 3 to 1 in the world lats face it ds is is the best handheld its afordable and u dont have to pay 50$ for crapy games DS #1.”
…my face just scrunched up like a just squeezen a lemon in my mouth..
lol, jk, but those points, in all honosty, were pretty… bad.
you are aware that the psp can go online as well (at 11 mbps, while the ds can only go on with 2 mbps).
the controlls really arent that revolutionary, its actually a downgraded mousepad. sure, you can poke at things, but a game that depends on poking at things probably isnt a good game. there are a few instances were people have compained about the sylus’s poor positioning, but those are rare.
metroid prime has some ds competators (SOCOM for example, the only reason it didnt get mid-90’s is because of its dated graphics).
do more research about a topic before posting.
pretorian man the ds has changable controls u can set it to use the stylus or not heres more bad thing about psp thare umd videos r not selling universal alredy stoped making them and the rest of the companys r starting to do the same thing this guy is just hating on the fact that the ds is the best and going to stay that way with thare new ds lite alredy sold out in japan and new web brouser new tv tuner the list goes on he just avoided all the other facs becouse he knew they were true. DS #1
heres something for parents buying thare kids a psp r u willing to waste 250$ on a handheld that if it fals it may or it will brake or buy a ds thats like a tank compared to the ds and psp hase no games for the kids handhelds r made mainly for them 65% of gba’s were recieved by kids ds also has lots of games for older people and they r actualy fun listening music on a psp is expensive 250$ for the system 100$ for a 1gig card and i wont event tell you how much the 4 gig on a new psp 4 to 5 songs fit without saved game play a video dosent fit at all so if u want to use the other psp features thats another 150$ and 50$ a game no way not for me thanks thats it if you want more than ask i got tons of good things about the ds tons of bad things for psp. DS#1
my face, again, scrunched up like i sucked a lemon.
the web browser is a stolen idea no matter how you look at it, and if UMD videos sell poorly, DS videos are likely to do worse (considering how low res it would be, and refering to a point i made earlier, the cartridge only holds 1/14th the space of the UMD, so the video would be PUNY with 0 extra features).
and about the PSP failing/breaking, buy a frickin warranty. infact, you really shouldnt have to, the PSP is plenty strong enough, if you break it it was your own damn fault. no plasma screen T.V., fishbowl, pottery, or children for you.
and the psp comes with a memory stick, (32 MB i think it was… something in the 30’s) and thats plenty enough unless you plan on storing half hour videos on it.
oh and about the games, all the ds games, do you notice anything kinda… farmilliar? ya know, like that mario 64? don’t you remember playing a game just like that years before?
thats Nintendo’s biggest fault, all the games you ever get are really the same thing over and over again, only painted a different color.
the PSP, while similar gamewise to the ps2, at least has 3rd party support, meaning you’ll actually get VARIETY. all the mario games ever released, take the SAME EXACT GAME, name it something else, and put different characters in, it will get a lower score. the only reason it ever gets a high score is because it has the word “mario” in it. (with the exception of Mario Party, those games constantly get poor ratings).
oh yeah, and you forgot that the PSP is getting live video chat and Eyetoy. seeing yourself on your PSP is a little more innovating that just poking the screen.
ds knows that the videos dont sell thats why they dont sell them they lernd that from the carton video shows for gba and psp did the same thing with thare games the the only difrence betwen the psp tony howk game and ps2 is the grafix and name undergroun only difrence rivals at the end of it and grand theft auto same thing as gta3 so dont tell me that the ds is re seling n64 games if psp is re selling ps1 and ps2 games and if the psp games hold more why dont they make the games longer and waisting 250$ on a psp and more for insurince becouse it a garenty that it will brake or be a difective one shut up pretorian u dont even know. DS#1
what?
that was so poorly written i didnt get that last part.
something about buy more for psp shut up praetorian man you dont know.
what it is that i dont know you failed to point out.
again, you may think that mario is better than the “crap ps1 and ps2 comes out with”, but if that was the case, gamecube would have sold more than its ass-pitiful 20 million units. that means for ever 1 gamecube sold, 5 other guys bought a ps2. so, mario cant the THAT good, can it? if it was, gamecube wouldnt have been such a humiliation.
while GTA may be similar games for different systems, its not as bad as the SAME game for different systems. nintendo didnt even try to hide it, they even called it “mario 64″.
and the psp isnt just graphics, you fail to point out the CPU processor, meaning that the AI will be far superior on the PSP than on the DS (this is quite obvious on Worms: Open Warfare).
PSP, as i have had to mention several times now, has far superior 3rd party support, meaning that by the end of this year the PSP library will be at least twice the size of the DS library. thats why the gamecube lately has had about 1 new release every 2 months.
sony is also well known for making “gadgets”, in this instance for their PSP. these gadgets include a headset (with microphone), LIVE VIDEO CHAT, Eyetoy, a T.V. adapter, an Internet Router (meaning you dont have to be nearby wifi to play online) as well as many others. PSP has also been getting Patch Updates (incase you dont know what that means, the patches are basically improvements on the PSP’s software downloadable via USB ports, online, or UMD disks).
what has Nintendo done with their ds? gave it a web browser, something the PSP had right out of the box.
the PSP also has POTENTIAL over the DS. with the ability to patch update alongside the new little gadgets tons of companies make for it, the PSP can easily out do anything the DS may have in store. who knows, you may end up with a mousepad for it by the end of the year (which would kick the DS’s touchscreens ass).
im not saing that ps1 and ps2 games r crap but that psp renames it makes it psp compatable end says its original ds alredy has an internet router and that thing about movies loking crapy on ds they dont i us my play-yan to see movies on ds it looks just as good as the psp gamecube might have faild but waht ps2 dis to gamecube ds is douing to psp now ds is geting more and more 3d party games ds games r inovative fresh and original ds has a built in mike so u can voicechat during play with future games and chat while seting up on metroid your last sentinse’s dont make sence i might end up with a mouse pad kicking the ds’s touchscreens ass makes no sene u fuckig retard psp is dieing out and unles they come out with a cheper system and beter games they wont last 2 mor years. DS#1
oh yeah, and the scale between DS and PSP isnt anything close to Gamecube and PS2. the PS2 sold 5x as many units as Gamecube, PSP and DS are roughly equal (DS being much more popular in Japan, PSP being slightly more popular everywhere else).
ive bin gone for a while dont want to visit this web site again so if you want an overall beter gaming experience good games a system with long batery life get the DS it has beter games and more r coming just wait and see in e3 that crapy expensyve psp is a waste cuz it hase low batery life so if you actualy like a game that batry wont last like the ds psp’s games are crap and they cost a lot so ya DS is 10000000000 times beter than psp. oh ya the scale betwen ds and psp will get to that point praetorian man. DS#1
I recently chose the DS over the PSP for a few simple reasons:
1: Dead pixels. Nintendo in the UK will replace your DS if you get one and it has any dead pixels at all. Sony expects you to put up with some. I hate dead pixels (my PC monitor has a policy that allows none - I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise). Therefore, the PSP represents a big problem right at the start.
2: Games. At the beginning, I thought both machines had a poor selection, but now Nintendo has really gathered momentum (Mario Kart, Advance Wars, Animal Crossing, etc…). Lumines is still the only game that really appeals to me. PS2 style games on the go seem pointless to me - I’m not going to buy Pro Evolution twice, I’ll buy it for my PS2. The poor battery life is also a big problem - it wouldn’t last half of a transatlantic flight.
Ultimately, the PSP software is poor and that is reflected in the sales of its games in comparison with the DS (the DS has a few games that are million sellers now - the PSP has none yet). To me, that’s a highlights a huge problem ahead for Sony. For as sure as poor UMD sales mean releases are being scaled back, poor game sales will see releases being scaled down too.

I’m currently debating between buying either the PSP or the DS systems. I’m alittle confused on their features though. I know that the PSP is more of a multimedia gaming device where as the DS is just that of a gaming device. I heard that on one of the systems you can play the old gameboy or gameboy advanced games is that true? I’m more of an old school games kinda girl, you know like mario worlds, yoshi’s island, mario kart, etc. I’m basically looking for a system that has that offers the old school games like those of nintendo, super nintendo, and nintendo 64, sega, etc. Are there more of those games offered with the DS or PSP
the PSP has a much larger library (huge 3rd party support). the DS can play GBA games, but so can your GBA. if youd rather just have those, then you can just save yourself a bundle of money.
oh yeah, and i think there is a note that you should all know; DS sales are MUCH higher in japan, PSP sales are higher…. everywhere else (in each area, not by much, but it all adds up to it being a close call).
oh yeah, PSP is coming out with Battlezone, Battlefield, Myst, and Field Commander, all of which are VERY promosing.
especially Field Commander, its Sony’s impression on Advance Wars, and the video previews are already looking very nice.
All these debates are pointness. Comparing the two systems are different from comparing the two machines. Nintendo has a large library of games and many good titles. PSP only has a handful and they are not truly impressive. If you like Mario and want a large selection to choose, you should pick Nintendo. Sony PSP is the first handheld from that company. Like the very first generation Gameboy from Nintendo, it will takes some time for it to build a large library and sometimes for other parties to write a good program. Pound for pound and ounce per ounce, it is a better machine and it can do much more than Nintendo DS.
It all comes down to how much you evaluate the play value. If you see see the potential that PSP can deliver and don’t mind the wait, go for the PSP. The price will eventually come down with time. If you want to have the large selection and want to play games like Mario, buy the Nintendo DS.
Anyway, stop the silly finger pointing and the hot debate.
All I know is that the ds is killing the psp in world wide sales and it seems that the psp wont catch up. Nintendo has always dominated the portable gaming world and it wont be losing the title anytime soon. I think the reason for the declining sales of the psp is that the games are too expensive and alot of the features are not needed on a game console. If you want a portable dvd player then get a portable dvd player and the same with an mp3 player. Th ds is just priced way better and has way better game titles than the psp. The bottom line is that fancy hardware will never be able to beat great game titles.
i actually heard that the PSP was (VERY) slowly catching up (world wide anyways). in Japan, the DS is commiting road kill on the PSP, but in just about everyother country (that sells them), the PSP is usually ahad by an inch. i dont remember where, but its said that the DS has had a constant momentum, and the PSP is slowly gaining momentum.
I don’t think it is really fair to compare both handhelds, even Nintendo and Sony stress that they both have different purposes:
Sony PSP:
“Pros”
A beautiful design, media functionality and nice graphics (generally) on their games. The updates that Sony realise are definately something to boast about, the possibilities for the handheld are almost limitless. Of course, beautiful screen.
“Cons”
Unoriginal games, not cost effective, weak battery life, delicate handheld.
Nintendo DS:
“Pros”
Uses the touch screen in original ways, many original games that allow the player to experince new things. Free Wifi, soon to be web browser from Opera, homebrow scene possible with “Max Media” very cost effective, DS-Lite is beautiful, equal if not nicer than the PSP. A Durable little handheld, good battery life.
“Cons”
“Kiddy” sterotype attached to the Nintendo DS, though not the DS’s fault. Small screens. Umm…lack of media support, if you want that sort of thing. No updates…nothing else I can think of currently. Though, really you can play Media with PlayYan or MaxMedia…and MaxMedia has a 2GB memory card with lots of freebies and is cheap =X
Personally, I have a Nintendo DS and am about to get an I-Pod Video 60GB. I think that one is a games machine, an awesome one. One is an awesome media player. Different Purposes.
THEY BOTH SUCK. they both have flaws. they needed to spend more time perfecting it before people started WASTING hundreds of dollars just getting one.
There are new ones coming out.
*if you don’t either, WAIT until it is perfected first*
nintendo ds better its more creative
also most of sony xbox games go
on pc buy pc or make your own pc its cheaper really but im a computer god not very old but still bult a computer .But nintendo would win in creatitivety (spelled wrond sry) and portabatly and i have ds.Ds cou7ld be better not harnessing full power but why not just buy ps2 insted of psp same power processer and its cheeper get used for 50 $ so nintendo wins total. Not big fan of eather but sony stinks kinda buy pc games there better because pc is like XBOX + PLAYSTATION ok ds wins why its over all better ok and cheeper.
meh, a lot of games are also consoule exclusive, im actually seeing a low PC game output lately.
besides, PC has its own fair share of flaws: a PC equivelent to a PS3 would cost thousands of dollars.
ds is so kidish and crappy no graphics whatsoever bad squary textures no need for touch screen, two screens or microphone screen not bright enough not enough colors:
psp: 16,770,000 colors.
ds: i think it was 600,200 colors.
psp has the best screen my eyes have witnessed ever. ( i think it is beter than plasma!) more car racing games, much easier to hold much cooler design, so many multimidia stuff!!!
i have a ds nd a psp and my ds i my alarm clock i dont playt anymore because it is so boring.
so many people have dss at my chool but want to get psps allthoug the cost a lot more but worth the price. grapchics are so mother freakin awesome wait till gran turismo!!! it is supposed to be exact replica of ps2 version!!!
new 4gb memory stik duos available!!! eyetoy coming for psp!!! psp will soon be able to play ps1 games!!! you will be able to use it a a ps3 controller!!! cn ds do all thi stuff? HELL NO.
go for a psp
yours truly
Gallardo:-)
PSP is so much better, alot of people say that they dislike the PSP because of its price well think about it pay more for something that and always open to new things. Or pay less to do the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
You’re all missing the point a bit, imho, since the PSP and DS are not being compared like for like, since they offer different types of entertainment in different price brackets.
Each of these handhelds is good at something. Personally I have a DS because I like to play games, not movies, and I want something which is compact, which I don’t feel the PSP is. I would also consider getting a PSP, since I like variety, but as I already have a GP32 and a GP2X, which are both also superb, and give me the homebrew stuff I like, then I won’t be getting a PSP just yet. I think the question should be ‘Which handheld is best for your needs’, and we should stop the childish ‘my handheld is better than yours’ arguments. Personally, since the GP2X can do pretty much all the PSP can do, at a cheaper price, especially now it is at firmware 2, then that should be considered, especially since it is highly customisable and now is getting support for external USB devices such as hard drives.
There we go, that my two cents!
Im really tired at this age old console/handheld war. I usually own two types of systems and i play games that i like on them. There are games on the psp that the ds dont have so i have a psp and vice versa. Personally i like the psp better, because i simply cannot carry too much tech gear and the psp solves most of that problem. Both systems have their flaws and strentghs and as one gamer said its really a matter of preference and in that regar it doesnt really matter what handheld you have as long as you have fun with it. I’ve been a gamer for 25 years now and i still find this console/handheld war silly. Its sooooo damn silly. You know it would be better if you just pushed all your complaints to the companies that make them so you can get much better games and support for your system. Personally this is all too childish, its like debating wether boxers or briefs are more comfortable, the thing is only you can decide for yourself which is better no matter much stuff people say to you. And to people who are buying these systems, i would suggest researching and testing them out yourselves first hand because in the end it all comes down to the word PREFERENCE!!!!

the DS/DS Lite has a built-in wireless adapter via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and certain games have it too.

No contest. I never even considered the DS and I still won’t. I like the PSP’s larger screen, web browser, podcast reader, and media player capabilities. I’m not interested in just a game machine.
