Rayman DS Video and Less Empty Promises

Our friends at 4CR bring us news that there is new footage for Rayman DS. Here’s a game that Ubisoft promised as a launch title and has since delayed it two, maybe three, times.

Originally lined up for November, then December, then End of 2004, Rayman DS WILL be available somewhere on this planet during March. Europe gets theirs 11 days before the US with a March 11 due date. The US release date is March 22nd. Australia splits the difference with a March 17th release. Japan? Expect it anytime in 2005. See?! No wonder Rayman appears to have slipped off the Game Industry News radar.

If it does make shipment this time, it will be good news as the DS is in desperate need of platformers. Hell, it’s in desperate need of any games at this point. Rayman DS should help fill that huge expanding gap. The Rayman series always provides nicely designed characters and environments. Judging from the video, it appears Rayman DS is beautifully done. You’re probably aware that I’m a platform junky, so I’ll most likely get this one.
