Gizmondo
Gizmondo tops 560,000 pre-orders, has funny name.
According to Tiger Teletronics, since the opening of their site, they have registered over 560,000 pre-orders for their Gizmondo handheld. The unit features game, music, GPS, movie, and even cell phone capabilities and retails for £229.00/$419.12/EURO 329.10 respectively. This unit launches in the UK late this year and everywhere else in early 2005. The unit [...]
Gizmondo Adds Titles, Screenshots Even.
Gizmondo didn’t want to be left out of all the news and press releases yesterday, so they leaked out some news and a few screenshots of upcoming games. Not sure if the titles will make it for the UK launch or not. Seeing they have actual screenshots, they appear miles ahead in development over the [...]
In Other News, Gizmondo Launch Announced
Tiger Telematics and Gizmondo announced today that the official UK launch date of the Gizmondo System will be October 29, 2004. The rest of us will get to wait until early 2005 to purchase one without importing. I’m getting anxious to see what this system can really do. Read the full Press Release after the [...]
Gizmondo Eats Nvidia Chips
Several days ago an annonymous informant, Bub (that was his name), left us a juicy tidbit on Gizmondo. We saw it, we read it, we thought “Cool. Gizmondo news.” then we went on our merry way and the tip was pushed down our inbox list while we were spamslapped and eventually it scrolled off our [...]
Gizmondo Has Moment of Genius, Realizes Need For Games
Gizmondo realized today that they might need games to succeed, or at least try to succeed. They announced a game development fund to support developers who will take the time to incorporate Gizmonodo’s “advanced” features in to their game, wink, wink. Mostly, I suspect they want to see something done with the GPS since [...]
Gizmondo To Support MP3 Download Service
Music download services are money machines. Apple has iTunes (duh). Sony has Connect. Napster has, well, Napster (duh duh). Ebay and Wal-Mart are trying the game, and there are many many more. Anxious to be in the game, or more to avoid being the only one NOT in the game, Gizmondo has arranged for Loudeye’s [...]
Gizmondo Lands BusinessWeek Cover Story, Interview
Gizmondo.com reports that Tiger Telematics CEO, Michael W. Carrender, is the subject of the June 21st issue of BusinessWeek. The short interview focuses on Tiger Telematics decision to jump from it’s core GPS operations to becoming a gaming company. Score one for Gizmondo’s PR Firm - but they still have a long way (and [...]
Gizmondo Specs from E3
At E3, Gizmondo confirmed it’s plans to launch their utility-knife of a system at the end of this year. Ferrago talked with Carl Freer, MD of Gizmondo Europe, who reconfirmed some specs:
a digital camera and a GPRS network link to allow wide-area network gaming. Additionally, it contains a GPS chip for location-based services, is equipped [...]
Gizmondo Showcases GPS-enabled Game, Colors, at E3
I think the Gizmondo company is backwards. Their site is 100% flash, so you can’t directly link to press releases, news items, game titles, or anything else without going through the index page first. Then, when they do have a press release, they release it as a PDF file. Like this one. And they [...]
Gizmondo, err GameTrac, changed their name
Shows you how current I am on this European handheld gaming system. About a month ago, GameTrac changed the name of their system to Gizmondo. (Press release in PDF here.) I can’t believe I missed that update.
And guess what, the boys at Gizmodo.com (they’re cool enough without the “N”) weren’t very happy.
