Sony Confirms GT4 Port for PSP

PSP GT4

Just as we expected, so much for the “No Ports” push Sony started earlier this year. IGN found out in a recent interview with Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital, that while Sony is still experimenting with the PSP system and what it can do, GT4 Mobile for the PSP will still most likely be a port of GT4 for the PS2. Of course, we expect wireless game play and some other things that a plugged-in console can’t do, it might just turn out the the PSP port of GT4 will be the better of the two versions.

It will be interested to see how Sony will entice owners of both systems to purchase both versions of GT4. Perhaps there will be a way to share saved games or other data between the two systems? Perhaps they’ll take Nintendo’s cue and create a GameLink type cable? Perhaps they’ll skip a cable altogether and rely on sharing online? We’re not sure, but we have a strong feeling that Sony will try to get owners of both systems to purchase both games. Duh.

Wow. I didn’t see that one coming. ROLLING EYE SMILEY.

Future prediction for GT4 on PSP!

The battery dies in four to five hours while you play it AND you get a ten to 15 second load screen.

Actually, that’s my biggest complaint with the system. Great graphics; but a lot of the games like Metal Gear and Armored Core are no longer interactive; because the developers know that allowing you to really control Snake or a Metal Gear would require continuous loading off the disc and would eat batteries quickly. For that matter, expect the game to dump all of a tracks level information into the RAM before each and every race. This means that the system -to perserve battery life- will have some hellacious load times.
