TGS 2004: Tiger and Need for Speed Bundled with PSP for Launch

psp

Every game show has media events with companies so excited to meet the press that they can’t contain themselves prior to the doors opening. The Tokyo Game Show is no exception. No, we’re not complaining. According to 1UP, this time it was EA’s CFO Warren Jenson who gave the first TGS dish of news. The Sony PSP will see Tiger Woods PGA Tour R and Need for Speed Underground Rivals as launch titles for Japan. The same two games will also be available for the US launch, but might be under slightly different names (but still building on the Tiger Woods and Need For Speed branding).

NBA STREET and NFL STREET and two other unannounced titles from EA will also be launch titles for the US launch in the Spring of 2005.

Of particular note is the rumor that Tiger Woods and NFS will be included with the PSP at launch. Not specified in the article itself, a GameSpy article included a subtitle of “Need for Speed Underground Rivals and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Golf bundled with PSP.” We’ll let you know once we confirm this crucial bit of information.
